About Us

Imse Vimse wool diaper cover In early 2008, before our son was born, we began investigating the differences between cloth and disposable diapers. This was mostly just out of curiosity. Both of our mothers had used cloth diapers, and we found ourselves wondering what the difference was. During our pregnancy we had been so conscientious about everything that went anywhere near us that it seemed kind of a waste not to be just as careful with the newborn. If this meant that one diapering method was healthier than the other, we wanted to know about it.

Shortly after the baby was born, he became colicky. It was such a huge adjustment taking care of him and recovering from the birth that as far as cloth diapering went, we were both thinking, 'No way.' It just seemed so intimidating and labor-intensive (it's not). However, after the baby developed diaper rash 3 times in his first 6 weeks of life, we reconsidered. We decided that we would just try cloth for at least a short period of time, and hey, we could stop any time we wanted to, right?

At first we looked around for a diaper service and at the time, we found none in the Buffalo area. So we figured we would have to try washing them ourselves. After researching the available cloth diaper options, we chose to start out with the prefold/cover combination. We looked into diaper services across the country and wanted to use what they use for their clients. We placed an order for 24 infant sized prefolds plus several waterproof covers to try, and we haven't looked back! And best of all, our baby's skin is healthy with no rashes since!

Both of us being enterprising types, we also thought that maybe we could use our newfound expertise to encourage others to make the switch. We like the idea that besides being better for the baby's health, cloth diapers are also a huge relief on our environment (compared to disposables) and a great way for a family to 'go green!' We made the decision to start our own diaper service and are very excited about it. We hope that you find using cloth just as rewarding as we have.
